Vision Skin Tattoo was established in Strathpine, June 1992 by owner operator Warren Rigby. The first premises in Pine Rivers to have a Skin Penetration license Vision Skin quickly gained a reputation for quality service and attention to detail. Warren won his first tattoo trophy in 1993 and hasn't looked back. A highlight was winning both male and female full sleeves at the Logan Tattoo Show in 2007. He also won the big " Contribution To The Tattoo Industry" award this year (2009) at the Acacia Ridge/Sin the Skin Tattoo show. The studio has become one of Brisbane and Australia's best studios.
Warren Rigby has been Secretary, Treasurer and State Representative of the Queensland branch of the Professional Tattoo Association of Australia.
When the Skin Penetration Regulations came under review in the '90's Warren was a member of the Stakeholder Reference Group, working with Queensland Health through the review process. In 1995 he was flown to Canberra by the Commonwealth Department Of Human Resources And Health, along with Pete Davidson and Les Bowen Snr, to help develop an education approach to the prevention of blood borne diseases.
In 1997 this eventually led to Queensland PTAA acquiring a grant of $11600, to develop a Pilot Education Program for the Control of Infectious Disease in Tattooing and Body Piercing. This successful program became a model for the current license-training course. None of this would have been possible without the generous assistance of Gordon Rowland from Victoria.
As well as managing a busy studio, Warren has trained various artists who have gone on to become well know in the tattoo trade. These include Link, who was Warren's first real apprentice, Clinton Steele, Russel Zylstra, Brett Clifton and his son Ben Rigby.
Ryan Parsons joined the crew in 2007/2008 and adds to the depth of talent on the Vision Skin Tattoo . There a couple of other apprentices waiting in the wings, eager to learn the right way at a prestigious studio, by an operator who knows what he is doing.
Custom tattooing is the name of the game at VisionSkin. From basic small designs to full sleeves and back jobs, every tattoo is applied with total commitment. As the shop got busier and busier, Brett started doing more full sleeves and back jobs. The popularity of the shop has seen the quality of art and design moving forward all these years.
There are new challenges in the tattoo trade every day, and the management at VisionSkin has lead the way with numerous standards set in the industry. With the popularity of tattooing at an all time high, many newcomers to the tattoo scene; in front of and behind the tattoo machine; not everything is as it appears. Miami Ink, LA Ink and London Ink are just television shows. Good or bad, they are not how premium tattoo studios operate on a day-to-day basis.
Anyone can rush off to someone and get a tattoo these days. There are many talentless bums who will tell you how good they are, so they can practice on your naive skin.
The endless availability of poor quality equipment and untrained scratchers has cheapened the industry, and made it more difficult for professionals.
When you think tattoo, think quality, think Vision Skin Tattoo .
